Getting from the the frying pan too Google’s fire
An Atlantic video suggests avoiding a SIM-swap commandeering of your mobile phone number by getting a Google Voice number and giving that out as your number instead of the real number. In other words, if people don’t know your phone number, they can’t commandeer it through a SIM swap.
But what if you fear Google’s surveillance capitalism more than you fear a possible SIM swap? I won’t even use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, using Authy instead.
