Liberty Gained and Power Lost

Christians will have to look in the mirror and ask themselves two basic questions. Are we brave enough to faithfully and confidently exercise the liberties that others have won? Or are we too weak and afraid to practice Christianity in the absence of the power we’ve so plainly lost?

David French, concluding a pretty darned good summary of how Protestants” (a term that he may be overworking) have gained legal freedom while losing legal and cultural power.

This is the kind of article that will be quoted by progressives, saying that French let the cat out of the bag (in essence, it’s all about power). But I will let my nits go unpicked to endorse his account almost completely anyway. It’s well worth reading.
