The price of preening
New York’s refusal to give federal immigration authorities information about undocumented immigrants who get New York driver’s licenses is as justifiable under Federalism principles as are the preening declarations of “sanctuary cities” around the country.
Therefore, I predict a slam-dunk victory for New York in its lawsuit against exclusion of New Yorkers from TSA Trusted Traveler programs — unless Trusted Traveler programs routinely cross-check driver’s license information about applicants. In that case, New Yorkers might have Andrew Cuomo (and their legislature) to thank for long waits in TSA lines.
