Christianism

I have avoided, and generally cringed when others used, the term Christianist.” But apparently, it is more than a mere epithet:

Christianism: a political form of Christianity that focuses more on cultural identity than faith.

(Rémi Brague, via Alessandra Bocchi)

I believe Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church, Dallas, is a Christianist. Anyone care to explain why I’m wrong?

I’m also inclined to think the cultural Christian identity of liberal Christians is too thin to support Christianism so defined. Can anyone think of a Christianist of theologically or politically liberal stripe?
